Wash Not Waste!

Whangārei October Green Drinks

Wash Not Waste – imagine going to a public event where there are NO single use disposable cups and plates. Where they are multiple use. Yes please! This is something worth imagining. Fortunately this is the reality with the Ecosolutions Wash Trailer.

Specially designed for washing stainless steel cups and plates, the trailer plugs into a water supply then heats the water for rinsing and sterilising them.

The evening kicked off with the Whangārei EcoSolutions team, Chloe and Catherine, introducing the shocking waste involved with any throwaway cups and plates. Regardless of the fact that they might compostable – there is still an unacceptable amount of wastage involved. Consider the reality that manufacturing them sucks planetary resources – water, energy, raw materials - for an item used for a few moments and then discarded.

Using the Wash Not Waste cups and plates, everyone tucked into the delicious food supplied by Whakaora kai, then headed outside to experience the trailer in action. No landfill or composting involved. Just a lovely clean plate and cup which is used again and again and again! This is not a quirky, ‘hippy’ gimmick – it’s responsible, caring and sensible, the only Life supportive option for any event.

Thank you to everyone who came and experienced this viable zero waste solution, with a special mention to those who came from Pehiaweri Marae where the trailer is parked.
