Positive Action for a Healthy Planet
This annual conference, organised by the Climate Change Tai Tokerau Northland Trust, was held in Whangārei and sought to answer the question, “How do we build a future where everyone has what they need to thrive?”
The 2026 conference explored the intersection of climate action and community wellbeing, specifically through the lens of kai, energy independence and resilience.
I decided to go along to the first day as two of the Trustees are Timebank members. Equipping myself with information on Timebank, I laid out the sheets on one of the tables round the conference room and inevitably bumped into other local Timebank members. This type of event always attracts like-minded people, reinforcing a network of those drawn to support planetary wellbeing.
Although I came away with various ideas and added to the Timebank network with new connections, we don’t need to attend conferences to take the time to ponder our own behaviour and its potential impacts on planetary health. We can all take action to support a healthy Papatūānuku.
Please feel free to share your ideas on our FB page, or email me (janeype.tttimebank@gmaila.com) with things that you do which impact positively on Papatūānuku!
