Waitangi Day 2026

Another successful Waitangi Day – diverting tons of compostable materials from landfill – where it will be turned into soil by the natural composting abilities of Papatūānuku.

Working from dawn to dusk, the volunteer team of Recycling Ambassadors guided people to deposit their ‘waste’ into the correct bags – educating many in the process about what is recyclable, compostable and landfill.

The addition of mobile wash stations – “Wash not Waste” – stocked with re-usable cutlery and crockery, contributed enormously to minimising waste items.

TTT members get time credits for volunteering. As this opportunity comes up annually – put it on your calendar for 2027. “Be the Change you want to see” diverting ‘waste’ to landfill, having fun, educating people and earning time credits.
