July Green Drinks was presented by Julie Luiten from the incredible Whare Manaakitanga (House of Love & Kindness) in Kamo; commonly known as the Clothing Shed, Book Barn and Aroha Gardens - an Organisational Member of Tai Tokerau Timebank in Whangārei.
WOW!! This community run organisation is a vibrant, thriving group of volunteers who supply FREE clothing, books, housewares, baby needs, bed linen, toys and SO much more to people who desperately need support and the basics for survival.
With between 700 and 800 homeless people in Whangarei (many living in cars), they desperately need these services and support. Grandmothers are looking after 5 grandchildren with virtually no help, clothing, toys, blankets etc.
Donations of any sort are key to their operation, as is the big team of loyal volunteers who support this incredibly important cause. Several Timebank members are regular volunteers here, earning time credits for the hours they spend helping. But there’s always room for more! Your help in person or donations (or both) is very much needed.
If you have anything – particularly blankets, kids toys and kitchen wares - please contact: Julie 021 779 232, or drop off on Wednesdays and Fridays 8 - 1pm, 291 Kamo road behind CCS.
