November Green Drinks in Whangārei was jointly hosted by TTTimebank and Ecosolutions at Raumanga Community Gardens. (https://www.facebook.com/groups/978203099326897).
We were joined by an enthusiastic bunch of kids whose homes border onto the gardens together with some other local residents.
After some kai, we got stuck into speciality compost making under the guidance of garden volunteer Tom. Called a bio-complete process, we layered different inputs to create a high quality, nutrient dense compost heap teeming with bacteria, microbes and fungi!
The gardens occupy the valley adjacent to Manaia View School, so students wander down to the gardens to help out and graze on the fresh veggies! Compost bins, worm farms, raised beds and a newly planted orchard make Raumanga a hands-on hub for environmental learning, connection and contribution.
This was our last Green Drinks of 2025 - we’ll be back again in February 2026!!
