2025 marks 30 years since TimeBanks.Org was created by Edgar Cahn which led to the modern timebanking movement. International Timebanking Day is on his birthday 23rd March. We thought 30 years was worth marking so we're running a competition!
All you need to do to go in the draw to win one of three prizes is log 30 timebank exchanges to an individual member account during the period 1/1/25 (so basically anything that you have logged this year) up to 30th June 2025.
We have 2 x $30 vouchers for CBEC Garden Centre* plus 1 x $30 cash, and each winner gets to nominate an organisational member to receive 30 timecredits (*can be substituted for cash if you don't live in Te Hiku). There will also be a prize for the most hours logged over the same time period.
30 timebank exchanges is an average of 5 exchanges a month over 6 months, and it doesn't matter if you are the one giving or receiving the timecredits, they both count!
We have several members in with a chance already if they keep up their current rate of exchanges, wouldn't it be great if we could get that up to 30 members!
So if you've exchanges you haven't gotten around to entering on TimeOverflow yet get them on there, and whilst there update your Offers and Requests to see if you can generate some more, and check out what's already listed.
It's not that hard to build up exchanges. If you help out your friends or whānau who are members then remember to log it - that way you both get closer to 30 exchanges! If you're part of an organisational member remind them that they need to log your hours put in (back dating is fine, but you'll need to ask them nicely to put it through as individual exchanges rather than a lump sum! You might even be able to earn yourself some extra timecredits taking on their timebank admin) You can earn timecredits simply by turning up to Timebank socials etc, and pay timecredits for most Tiaki Taiao workshops.
