About the event
The ancient tradition of planting by the moon has been practiced for centuries by civilizations around the world. It is based on the idea that the gravitational pull of the moon affects the water in the soil, which in turn affects the growth of plants.
Multiple mechanisms have been suggested to explain the effect of moonlight on plant growth, including the breakdown of starch by diastases, variations in water absorption during seed imbibition and gaseous exchange, as well as the effect of the moon on the movement of sap in plants.
