Whangārei Silver Festival Oct 2025

This was an opportunity for event visitors to join Timebank members at He Awhi Rito for afternoon tea and learn about Timebanking.

Partnering with Judy from EcoSolutions, we jointly hosted the event which was a huge success!!!

We were open from 2pm – 4pm on Tues 7^th Oct and had prepared He Awhi Rito workshop space with a few chairs and a couple of tables, one of which was for the home baking and afternoon tea. A couple of women arrived an hour early (very keen!).

A stream of people started coming through the door around 2pm and filled the room. We had to re-arrange the chairs and tables – dragging chairs from everywhere we could in the hub and even then there weren’t enough!

Judy and I shared the floor. She covered recycling, repurposing, upcycling, re-using etc which generated a lot of questions. She also demonstrated how to make your own washing powder.

I talked about Timebank and then demonstrated how to make your own toothpaste.

A couple of Timebank members had baked cakes, so afternoon tea was enjoyed by everyone.

When I thought we’d finished I was approached by five visitors who wanted to hear more about Timebank 😊

So, setting up my laptop with the smart screen I showed them the joining process, the website and Timeoverflow.

By combining with Ecosolutions and creating a social gathering for TTT members, we created a relaxed, friendly, welcoming atmosphere.

Thirty people attended including eight TTT members.
